Vertical Installation

Here is a great video on how to install a vertical installation. This installation video will show you how to install a decal that is taller than wider.

Here's how to install a tall wall decal.

Things you'll need before you get started:

  1. Instructions (included)
  2. Painters Tape
  3. Scissors
  4. Squeegee (included)
  5. Xacto Knife (optional)
  6. Wet washcloth

Step 1: POSITION DECAL
Position your wall graphic on your wall where you plan to place it. Your decal is cut down as a rectangle for easy measuring. Secure your wall decal with painter's tape at the top of the wall graphic. (The tape acts as a hinge for the project.) You can see your wall decal through its semi-transparent transfer tape. After your wall graphic is hinged with tape at the top take another piece of painters tape and apply a piece horizontally (from left to right) in the middle of your decal all the way across the wall decal.

Step 2: PEEL OFF PAINTERS TAPE AT THE TOP
Peel off the painters tape you applied on the top of the graphic. Be sure the second piece of tape is still secured. (Running through the middle of the decal)

Step 3: PEEL BACK PAPER BACKING
Flip the top part of the decal sheet down and slowly peel off the top paper backing layer.

If parts of the decal want to stick to the paper backing, slowly manipulate the backing to help the decal not stick. Peeling at 180 degree angle does help when peeling paper away.

(TIP) Using a Xacto Knife helps if the sticker backing is sticking to the paper while pulling it off.

Step 4: CUT PAPER BACKING that is exposed.
Cut the top part of the paper backing that has been exposed. Once it is cut you'll be able to apply your decal to your wall.

Step 5: APPLY GRAPHIC TO THE WALL
Hold the transfer tape tight and straight when applying your decal to the wall.

Step 6: PRESS THE CORNERS TO MOUNT THE DECAL
Once applied to the wall press the corners to make sure the transfer tape is sticking to the wall. Do not press on the actual wall decal itself. This is just to hold up the decal on the wall.

Step 7: TAKE YOUR SQUEEGEE TOOL
Work from the left to the right. It is key to start from the bottom of the painters tape and work your way upward, making a left to right motion until you have applied the whole exposed part of your decal.

If you lost your squeegee tool or threw it away on accident a credit or debit card will do the trick as well. Anything small and flat will work. Your squeegee tool should be inside the clear pouch with your instructions when you get your decal. This is located on the inside of the box.

Step 8: PEEL OFF PAINTERS TAPE
Peel off the existing painters tape that is running through the middle of your decal.

Step 9: PEEL BACK BOTTOM PAPER BACKING
Peel back the bottom paper backing and then REPEAT STEPS 5,6,7 on the bottom side of your decal.

Step 10: RUN HOT WATER OVER WASHCLOTH
Take a washcloth and run hot water over the washcloth. Make sure it’s nice and wet but wring out the washcloth.

Once your decal is up on the wall but you have not yet removed the transfer tape take your wet washcloth and rub it all over the transfer tape. The heat and moisture from the washcloth will help remove the adhesive grip from the transfer tape. Kind of like a temporary tattoo.

You can remove the transfer tape without getting it wet but from our experience getting the transfer tape wet helps out significantly. A issue that might happen when removing the transfer tape while dry is the lettering will stick to the transfer tape when removing it.

Step 11: PEEL OFF TRANSFER TAPE ONCE WET
Carefully peel off the sticky top layer of Transfer Tape. Peeling at 180 degree angle does help when peeling transfer tape away from the wall.

Step 12: YOU ARE A ROCKSTAR DECAL INSTALLER!
You are all finished up. Now enjoy the view of your new wall decal.
